Snow-capped peaks, apple orchards and Narkanda town makes this place a major attraction. You can easily reach the top on foot, a car or a bike. When reaching the top, the prolific views of the mountains and Hatu Mata temple welcome the travelers with their magnificent presence. The 7 km trekking route from Narkanda to the peak takes around 2.5 to 3 hours.

The Hatu Peak situated in Narkanda, soars at a staggering height of 11,155 ft. is the highest one in the Shimla region. Encompassed by awe-inspiring mountains and wrapped in a lush green forest comprising fir, cedar, spruce, blue pine and deodar, this peak is certainly an Earth’s paradise. However, this place is known for the apple orchards. At the top of the hill, there is the Hatu Mata temple which is of immense religious importance for the locals. The temple was dedicated to King Ravana’s wife, Mandodari.

In addition to the peak’s cultural and historical importance, you will find a small stove shaped formation beside the right side of the temple. According to mythology, Pandava brothers used to cook their food at the time of Agyaat Vaas. If you have an extra day you can also camp there and spend quality time under the stars. This trek offers you a complete package like any Himalayan trek with captivating meadows, pitch-black pine forests, impressive mountain views and the excitement to walk on snow.

Hatu Peak

Hatu Peak Trek – Detailed Itinerary

  • You will begin the trek from Narkanda, 63 km from Shimla and the last destination is Hatu Mata temple where you will end your trek. You will climb to a height of 11,155 ft. and takes 2.5 to 3 hours to arrive at the top. Again, the time taken to descend is approximately 3 hours, so a maximum of 7 hours is required to cover the whole trek.

Hatu Peak

  • As you begin the trek, the dazzling beauty of the pines will be hitting you and the hill packed with tall trees will not allow the sun rays to touch the ground at times. You will walk through the dense forest and after 3 km you will have the first glimpse of the snow-capped Himalayan ranges.

Hatu Peak FOrest

  • On the way to the top, you can see some shepherd huts, referred to as ‘Gujjar Kotha’. These huts are temporary resting areas for shepherds who bring their buffaloes and cows to graze in the surrounding areas. Moreover, you also get to witness a small pond where the sparkling waters will welcome you with enjoyment. You should take a break to relax and admire the surrounding beauty for capturing a few moments.

Gujjar Kohta

  • After trekking for 4 kms, the real adventure begins as the road suddenly disappears and you may think which way to go. However, you do not have to worry as the forest is properly marked from this point and it will take some minutes for figuring out the right directions.

Hatu Peak

  • You will be at the top after walking for more than 3 kms and you get to see a birds-eye view of the magnificent Himalayas. The locals visit Hatu Mata temple which is a major attraction on the very first Sunday of Jyeshtha. Jyeshtha is referred as a month on the Hindu calendar. In national civil calendar, the 3rd month of the year is referred as Jyeshtha and it starts on the new moon.

Hatu Mata Temple

  • The ritual to sacrifice goat still prevails in this temple. Now, if you are willing to trek and experience more, then there are several points such as Tanni Juber Lake, Baghi village, Karena peak and Jor Bagh where you can able to interact with the locals.

Hatu Peak Temperature & Weather

The weather is always friendly and cool throughout the year. With the arrival of winter, you get to witness snowfall so please layer up with winter wear. The ideal time for trekking to Hatu Peak is from March until October. In the summertime, the temperature remains 8 to 200C and during winter it comes down to -100C.

Duh, yes! Atmanirbhar Indians do it all. Hence, it is necessary.

We suggest you to be safe at this time and use your own vehicle to reach the destination. If necessary, we can also arrange for a fully sanitised taxi from the pickup point to the property and back.

Umm, unfortunately no! This is only for yours and traveller’s safety. Get back to us when things are normal.

Not a lot but, hard copies of ICMR approved COVID RT-PCR negative test report, the E-permit pass for the state you’re travelling to, original address proof and govt. issued ID proof are the only ones.

In that case, these are the two choices you have for yourself.
  • You can simply cancel the bookings for staying in the property and get back to your home. We would give full refund in this case.
  • You can undergo the quarantine period as said by the local authorities and resume the stay at the property. You would be charged only for the amount you are going to stay there.

Things are really uncertain at this point of time and it will not be a surprise if this happens. So, we will refund your entire amount and you will have to go back to your home.

In this case, we would suggest you to get checked at the nearest COVID centre labs around you. If you are found positive, you’ll have to undergo institutional quarantine and have to follow all the government regulations and guidelines. If you are found negative, you can resume staying in the booked property.

Our recommendation would be more than 7 nights. This is to minimise the overall influx of people entering and exiting state borders in short intervals.

Just draft an email and send it to your stay coordinator. You can write in the mail the later dates for which you want to book your stay and your stays will be postponed.

  • To begin with, we are checking all the mandatory health reports and making a file of it
  • We are checking the travel history of the travellers
  • We are not taking anyone who shows even the slightest possibility of cough, cold, or any other symptom
  • The properties are well sanitised
  • We are involving minimal human interaction
  • We are taking extra care of sanitisation

It might happen in this uncertain time so you can transfer that voucher to your family members or friends to not let them get wasted.

Don’t get in TOUCH with anyone, just drop us a mail. Cool!

Nothing much, basically what you have been doing all these while.
  • Social distancing
  • Not touching anyone
  • Wearing masks
  • Washing hands and face frequently
  • Using gloves
  • Using hand sanitiser
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Avoid coming in contact with someone who shows even the slightest signs of cough, cold, or fever.

Of course, but not all the time. Not when you are safe in the sanitised area. Not when you are alone. Not when you are with your closed ones who you know are safe.

Just practise social distancing, use sanitiser on hands, wear a mask, wear gloves, do not come in contact with anyone closely, take bath with soap as you end your journey, drink warm water, and wash your hands with soap.
