Day 3 - Rola Kholi-BhriguLake-Rola Kholi

Day 4 - Rola Kholi-Gulaba-Manali

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: From Manali Drive to Gulaba and Trekking towards Gulaba Meadows Camp

Journey initiates from Manali, on the Rohtang Pass Road towards the small hill hamlet of Gulaba. The hill towns—Kolang, Palchan, and Kothi on the way give an extremely lovely view with pine forests as you go on. Snow covered elevations surrounding the small locale gives you snaps as per your wish. Sweet grasslands wet over by the watercourse of Beas would make fantastic pictures at Gulaba , as long as the Rohtang local crowd doesn't appear.

After lunch at the village, you will follow a brief trek, which will consume 1.5 hours to reach our first camp within the grasslands near to a forest line. The trek will be a complete pleasure and with no hardships, taking you through the conifers shade dark and deep, and eventually coming to an open clearing.

Day 2: Gulaba to Rola Kholi

Today you will start for an altitude of 12,500 ft. a distance of 6 km in a span of 3-4 hours. It’s going to be a steep walk, so you would like to travel equipped with 2 liters of water and tiny snack bites which provide you energy between the resting laps.

For the primary few miles you will trail under a forest cover and bathing within the shade of rustling conifers you'll easily spot oaks, cedar, and birches. It’s a lovely sight to catch the beauty of blue through these leaves.

Walking for 20 minutes into the trek, and then the forest has now ebbed behind, unfolding only rolling green meadows before. This is the shepherds’ zone where cattle grazers are brought from the local villages during summer. You'll find a couple of mud huts and camp poles lying here. Keep the meadow behind and begin heading south. You'll find the height of Hanuman Tibba rising in sharp focus at now and a touch below, the Seven sisters Peaks. Lying somewhere far below is the green patch of Beas Kund valley.

Next comes another slight jungle cover, passing through the trail falls on to the rugged meadows again. The joys climax when the trail gets narrower and steeper just before entering the grasslands of Rola Kholi. At about fifteen to twenty minutes faraway from the campsite, you will pass two small streams which also are your water sources. Your camp is near chor nallah(stream) at the Rola Kholi campsite.

This night is that night of wonder under a sky breaking into zillion stars!

Day 3: Rola Kholi to Bhrigu Lake then to Rola Kholi

Today's out will lead to landscape change from all of what you've experienced within the days before! Beginning way early within the morning you traverse a distance of 10 kilometers in approx 7-8 hours on a steep and massively rocky path. The verdant meadows of the last two days desire a dream but this landscape is not less than captivating, and gets all the fresh view within the cool mountain climate.

Till June, you'll expect this course post Rola Khuli to be covered in snow. From mid-July on, the gradients of brown, green, and white get prominent because the snow melts off. On the last leg of the trail, it’s highly advisable to travel slow and not hurry because the path is ridden with scree and slippery boulders.

The alpine lake becomes visible between the 2 ridges when you reach at the top of the last boulder-bound lap. Be it high winters or the start of summer, the lake isn't entirely frozen. This is often an incidence attributed to the facility of Sage Bhrigu of the traditional myths to whom this lake is known as .

From the high belt surrounding the lake, you'll catch a instant glimpse of the Solang Valley nestling distant and on a transparent day, the sky lights up with the luxurious peaks of Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar range.

Day 4: Rola Kholi to Gulaba drive to Manali

Today, you'll trek back an equivalent treaded path through the delicious green meadows in one long sweep to Gulaba which can take approx 2 to three hours, and back from there to Manali by car, we'll reach Manali in between 2 to three pm.

Note: there's an alternate return route to Manali via Vashisht and Pandu Ropa from the Bhrigu Lake site, but we discover this path more relaxing and sustainable for a soothing green trek.
