One of the best ways to spend your weekend is by going to some place which is far away from the city and offers some peacetime. Another such place which is 60 kilometers west of Bengaluru is Savandurga trek. This mountain is considered as one of the biggest monolithic rocks of Asia. Savandurga hill is made up of two mountains. The two mountains are Karigudda and Billigudda which is also known as the black hill and the white hill. Trekkers often come to this beautiful place to explore in the weekend as you don’t need much time to do that.
By Air: There is an international airport known as the Kempegowda international airport in Bangalore. A huge range of flights come here from all the part of the country. You can easily book a cab from the airport:
By Train: There are two railway stations in Bangalore. A lot of trains come from different parts of the country. This place is well connected to all the other places. You can easily book a cab from the railway station.
By road - As Bangalore is famous for the IT services there are a lot of buses that connects Bangalore. If you are coming from nearby cities like Hyderabad, Pune, etc then you can easily rely on busses as there are direct buses from there and very convenient ones.
The best time to visit Savandurga is the summer season. During the summers, the weather is pleasant and totally suitable for outdoor activities. The winters are also good but not very ideal and suitable for everyone as the temperature gets considerably low. During the monsoons, the trekking here becomes extremely difficult.
The major things that every trekker must carry with themselves when they are on the Savandurga trekking are good trekking shoes, torch, light cotton full sleeves T-shirts, 2 litres water bottle, towel, medicines, and sunscreen, moisturiser. Carry snacks or light food items if necessary. We would recommend you to carry only the very necessary things because that would make your bags lighter.
The difficulty level of the Savandurga trek is moderate with steep inclinations.
Vegetarian food will be provided in this trek.
Since this is a moderate trek and is not for the beginners, prior trek experience or regular fitness routine is recommended.
