Kunti Betta is one of the most thrilling and quick treks around Bangalore.Kunti Betta is located just 130 kilometres away from Bengaluru. From Mandya, we will take a right turn passing through sugarcane and paddy fields to reach a place called Pandavapura. Pandavapura has some mythological tales attached with it.
According to Hindu mythology, the Pandavas had stayed here during their years of exile and apparently loved the place. Pandavapura also gets its name from this association.
Kunti Betta comprises two rocky hills which can be seen from a distance and is surrounded, by some stunning landscapes. The Kunti Betta peak is around 950 metres in height. From Pandavapura we will have to walk to a temple which serves as the base of this trek. A four kilometres of trekking from here will take you to the summit of the trek.
The trek is challenging in parts but is full of fun and adventure.The trek can be done easily by beginners as well as experts. The sunrises and sunsets from the summit are absolutely stunning.
The Thonnur lake is also located in the vicinity where you can also take a dip. We will start from Bangalore at night and stay in a hotel at Ramanagara for the night. Early morning at around 4am, we would reach the base of the trek and start the trek.
Kunti Betta is around 130 kilometres away from Bangalore and is easily accessible by road. Taking the Mysore road from Bangalore till Mandya, we will take a right turn and then head towards Kunti Betta. The distance that one needs to cover in this trek is four kilometres to and fro. This trek can be easily done in a day.
We will cover this trek in a day. We will start from Bangalore at night and the start the trek early morning the next day. Here is the itinerary of the whole trek-
We will start from Bangalore at 11:30 pm at night and a pick up would be arranged for the same.
We will start driving towards Ramanagara where we will check into a hotel for spending few hours at night. We can use the washrooms here to freshen up.
From here at around 3:30 am we will start proceeding towards the base of the tree and start the trek after that. The distance that one needs to cover is around 4 kilometres one way.
At around 5:00 am, we will reach the peak mostly and relax and enjoy by the campfire up there. We will witness the sunrise from the summit. At around 6:00 am, we will descend and come back to the base. You can also indulge in water sports activities in the lake located nearby.
We will reach Ramanagara at around 7:30 am and will have our breakfast. After having the sumptuous breakfast, we will head back to Bangalore again.
The weather is mostly pleasant with temperatures ranging from 18- 24 degrees Celsius. However since this trek will happen early in the morning,you can expect temperatures to be low.
Since this is a trek which we will cover in a day, accommodation is not necessary but we have included a hotel stay at Ramnagar where we will rest and freshen up before starting the trek.
You can easily find ATMs on the way to Ramanagar from where you can withdraw cash. You can also opt for withdrawing cash from Bangalore before you start the trek.
Mobile connectivity is there till Pandavapura. There might be limited connectivity on the trail however.
