This one is a hidden one because the beginners do not intend to try this as it is difficult having thrilling pass. It is also very exciting because the trekkers have to rappel down the snow wall at 15000 feet. This is not it, the trekkers would also have to trek down fove snow slides.

The trek trail includes snow mountain, forests, grasslands, village settings, meadows and snow walls. This shows that the trek is a beautiful one with beautiful settings. Even though the trek is not easy, it is only of 8 days which is not very tough for the professional trekkers.

The weather keeps fluctuating and during the nights, it becomes extremely chilly. Camping, hiking all the way to the lake and rapelling are some of the other things that you can enjoy in this thrilling adventurous trek.

Location and How to Reach

The very famous and the ever so gorgeous Barun Ghati trek is located in the Himachal Pradesh region. The base point of this trek is at the Diude or Janglik.

This is not one of the very famous places of the Himachal but the place is well connected with the roadways.

Reaching Diude is by taking a road trip from Shimla to Diude which is of about 10 hours.

Best Time to Try This Trek

The best time to go on this trek is during the months of December to March. The weather is amazing during this season. You will see the most picturesque views during this season.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Report at Diude

  • The first day of the trek is reporting at Diude. Janglik is a small pleasant walk through the forests from Diude. The time taken for this trek is around 10 hours.
  • The journey for Diude begins from Shimla. The journey is really beautiful.

Day 2 – Janglik to Dayara

  • The 2nd day of the trek is an easy one. The trek proceeds from Janglik to Dayara and the time taken for this trek is 5 hours.
  • This trek is moderate with gradual ascent to the forests, wooden houses, pine trees and trails of streams.

Day 3 – Dayara to Litham

  • The altitude of the trek keeps increasing and here the trek altitude becomes 11.373 feet but the trek trail is easy.
  • It is quite less time taking and would be done in 3 hours. You will cross pine forests, meadows and silver Birch forests.

Day 4 – Hiking to Chandranahan Lake

  • This day is totally exciting as the trekkers would be hiking all the way to Chandranahan lake. The trek gradient is difficult and the time taken for this excursion would be around 7 hours as you will also return from the lake trek.
  • The lake has a glacial tarn, has snow flanks, glacial valley and waterfall. The view of the closed alpine valley and the snow is amazing to watch.

Day 5 – Litham to Dunda

  • Getting to Dunda from is by following a moderate level trek. You will find gradual ascent here which then leads to steep ascent all the way.
  • This trail is also quite beautiful having shepherd trail, alpine zone, snow flaked mountains, and snowy glaciers.

Day 6 – Dunda to Munirang

  • This 8 hour trek would be quite a difficult one where the highest altitude of the place goes up to 15000 feet.
  • The trek here includes walking through the boulders. Walking up and down through the streams becomes quite difficult here.
  • Camping here for the night as well as crossing the picturesque huts is something truly worthy.

Day 7- Munirang to Barua

  • Barua village is a beautiful village where you get to spend some time while moving down. The altitude of the trek decreases to about 6700 feet.
  • The trek is easy and would take around 6 hours. The trail that will be crossed here are pine forests, grasslands, and the river campsite. The trek ends on this day.

Day 8 – Good Bye Meal Day

  • A short buffer meal would be hosted on the 8th day.
  • The trek ends now completely and this meal is organised to let the trekkers spend some more time together and then proceed for their own path.

Difficulty Level

On the scale of the difficulty level, this trek ranks to be moderate to difficult. You atleast need to be of 8 years of age to go on this trek. This also makes sure that the beginners must not go on this trek as this will not be ideal for them.

Weather

The weather of the Buran Ghati Trek keeps changing from chilly to moderate. The temperature is between 13°C-18°C during the daytime and in between 0°C-7°C during the night time. During the nights it is extremely chilly as the temperature falls down till zero degree.

It is also a must to buy raincoats and umbrellas prior to the trip as the trek happens in the monsoons season. Also make sure you have sufficient warm garments for the trip. Carry basic medicines and dry food along with you as well.

A rucksack is which is sturdy and can accommodate a sufficient amount of things is required. It should also be waterproof as this will protect your belongings from getting wet from rains. Make sure the rucksack is not too heavy.
