The kanamo peak is situated at a height of 190,600 feet. We will be covering a lot of peaks and beautiful sceneries on our way. You have an amazing experience in the whole trek.

Location and how to reach

For the Kanamo peak trek you need to arrive in Manali first. Reaching manali is very simple. Abundant number of busses, trains and flights are there. Following are the few routes given.

  • By road- there are a lot of busses that go to Manali from Delhi and NCR regions. You can easily find one and board a bus from bus depot. People often come to this city by road as it is hassle free.
  • By train- traveling by train is little difficult. You have to travel through a narrow gauge track up to Joginderanagar. And then you will have to take a bus or a cab to reach Manali.
  • By air – airport is located in Bhuntar in Himachal Pradesh. Then you will have to travel around 52 kilometers by either bus or cab to Manali.

Best time

Since the weather is very cold and full of snow in winters. It is not preferred to trek to Kanamo peak in winters. The trails will be covered with snow and the roads will be blocked. In monsoon as well the trails become really very slippery and hard for the trekkers to trek.

So the perfect time to go to this trek is in the month of may, june as the weather is very pleasant and you will also be able to enjoy the scenic beauty of this place. the beautiful flora and fauna and the mountains covered with snow is something you will never see in any of the places.

Itinerary

Day 1- Arrive at Manali

  • The first day is pretty normal and simple. Trekkers will arrive in Manali and they will be resting there. They can also visit the local market and buy stuffs and interact the local people.
  • Another alternative is to reach to shimla and leave for Reckong Peo.

Day 2-Manali to Kaza

  • After resting for a day, the trekkers will drive to Kaza from Manali. We will be leaving early to avoid traffic on our way.
  • We will be also travelling from the Rohtang pass. The traffic is really bad after Rohtang pass. Once crossing the pass you will be taking a glance to thebeautiful Spiti valley.
  • After a 10 hours drive you will be reaching the Kaza. You will be resting the day in Kaza in a luxurious hotel room. Rest for the night there.
  • If you are travelling in the month of June then you should take the routes from Shimla. First from Shimla you will go to Reckong peo on the first day and then from Reckong Peo to Kaza.
  • The path is really very good and beautiful. You will also be crossing Tabo and Nako which is one of the famous Bhuddhist monasteries.

Day 3-Kaza to Kibber

  • This day is also very light and has got a short road trip. Kibber is a village in Spiti valley. This place is famous for its monasteries.
  • You will also be visiting some monastery and will be interacting with some monks. You can also read the manuscripts if you want to.
  • Then in the evening you will be going to experience the nature around you. Take some rest at night as from the next day the actual trek will start.

Day 4

  • This day the actual trekking starts. As the peak is located in a very high altitude , there are a lot of ascents and descents.
  • The total time for the trek is 2-3 hours for the trek. After trekking to this high altitude we will be resting in this place and begin our journey back to the guest house.

Day 5-Kibber to Kanamo base

  • The day begins early. We will be leaving after breakfast. We will be climbing rocky trails and grass lands and dessert valley.
  • The first half is a steep ascent and then the next half the ascent is gradual.
  • There are also two lakes on our way. One of the lakes is the water source for the Kaza village. We are expected to reach Kanamo base by afternoon.
  • After reaching the base we will rest few minutes and after that we will be going for acclimation. Do not sleep as you will be feeling fatigue. After doing the acclimation have some early dinner and allow it to digest. Then sleep and you can also enjoy bon fire.

Day 6-Kanamo base to Summit camp

  • We will be starting our trek in the afternoon. As we get up in the morning do some yoga and pranayams to keep yourself healthy.
  • After that have your breakfast. This day is approximately 2.5 kilometers of trekking.
  • The first half is a 3-4 hours of walk. It is a gradual climb. The next half is a 1-2 hours of walk. The difficulty level is really high. You can also feel shortage of breathe.
  • If you have never climbed in such a high altitude before , it would be really very difficult to you.

Day 7-Kanamo Summit Camp to Kanamo Peak (19500 Feet) and back to base camp

  • We have to wake up really arly at around 3 am and the climb starts at 4 am.
  • There are two steep inclines. The first obe is very steep and takes 3 hours to do that.
  • We also see some beautiful peaks like the Shila peak. Then the second ascent will take around 2 hours to reach the Kanamo peak.
  • You will also be seeing the parvati pass and parang la from there. The scenery is mesmerizing. You will be awestruck.

Day 8-Kanamo base camo to Kaza

  • We will be travelling to Kibber by taking the same route as we took while climbing. Then from kibber we will be travlleing to Kaza by road.

Day 9-Kaza to Manali

  • From kaza drive to manali. You will be reaching manali by evening and the trip ends here.
  • We hope you have taken some amazing experience and memories with you as the trip ends.

Difficulty level 

The Kanamo pass trek can tend to be very difficult for first timers.

Weather

The best time to go for trekking is in the month of May and June.

Things to carry

Although most of the things are included in the trek package but still one needs to carry their own things like Rucksack, cotton clothes, good trekking shoes, a warm jacket, Gloves, warmer, woolen or monkey cap covering head and ears, UV rays protected sunglasses, raincoat, extra socks, water bottle, torch, cold cream, sunscreen, toilet soap, towel, Walking Stick medicines that you usually use.

 

Cancellation Policy

  • If cancellations are made 30 days before the start date of the trip, 50% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • If cancellations are made within 0-30 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled and in such cases the our service partner will try his best to provide an alternate feasible activity.
