Well, the feeling will, of course, be surreal but reaching on the top is not a walk in the park. But, whatever the efforts must be, the top always has the best views to offer along with the feeling of accomplishment.
Hiking the mountains is the best way to reach the top. And hiking on the peaks which is one of the tallest peaks of the world is amazing.
Having said this, one of the tallest peaks of the world is Annapurna peak. This is one of the most famous treks of the world. The trekkers from all over the world come for experiencing this trek.
Even though it is very popular, it is a moderately difficult trek which everyone cannot go on. You have to be strong with your trekking expeditions to go on this trek. But it is pure bliss for the trekkers and explorers. This trek is in the Nepal region. You will come across amazing views while trekking this peak. Each destination has something new and fresh to offer.
The Annapurna base camp trek is 9 days’ trek starting from Kathmandu and having a base camp at Pokhara. It is a pretty difficult trek which is not suitable for the beginners and is only experienced by the professional trekkers.
The highest altitude of the trek is 13,550 feet. The temperature and the weather conditions of the trek is quite extreme making it even more challenging for the trekkers.
Staying at the campsite and exploring the tough trails is the beauty of this trek. Reaching the top of the Annapurna peak is going to take some time but the efforts and the days will be worth it all. The trails of this trek are going to be tough but also different from the other easy treks giving you spectacular views of the place.
The Annapurna base camp trek is in the Nepal region. The starting point of the trek is at Kathmandu. Kathmandu is well connected with the roadways, railways and airways so you can reach to this place via your private or the public transport.
Day 1 – The day of Arrival
The trekkers would be picked by our representatives and will be taken to their respective hotels for check-in. The day is left for them to explore Kathmandu and enjoy a welcome team dinner followed by a short meeting.
Day 2 – Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara
The first day starts with driving from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The journey is of 7 – 8 hour and the journey is extremely pleasing with scenic views.
Day 3 – Move ahead to Nayapul and trek to Ghandruk
After breakfast, the journey proceeds for a 2 hour drive to Nayapul. After reaching this place, the trek to Ghandruk which is 11 km walk starts. Post reaching Ghandruk, one starts seeing the magnificent scenery of the Annapurna range. This is a 6 hour trek approximately.
The night is spent at Ghandruk enjoying the campsite.
Day 4 – Start trekking to Sinuwa
Post breakfast at Ghandruk, the trek proceeds towards Sinuwa following an uphill trail. Lunch will be at Chhomrong and reach here will be by following a steep trail. 6 hours will be taken to cover this trek.
The night will be spent at camps in Sinuwa.
Day 5 – Trek to Deurali, the next stop
On the 4th day, the trek starts with an easy walk from Sinuwa following some bamboo and Khuldhigar settlements. The trekkers will have to cross a suspension bridge which is of a long stone steep staircase. You will also come across Rhododendron and Oak forest.
After going on a steep climb and walking towards the Hinku cave, you reach Deurali and spend the night at Deurali.
Day 6 – Finally Trekking to Annapurna base camp
The Annapurna base camp trek is a 5 hour walk from Deurali. You will cross the local bazaar, Modi river, and also reach the snow-capped peaks which are at about 8000 metres.
Spend the night at the Annapurna base camp.
Day 7 – Proceed Trekking to Bamboo from Annapurna base camp
Have the next morning breakfast and enjoy the spectacular views from the place. The trek then descends down to Deurali, to Dobhan and then to Bamboo.
On this route, you will come across temples, forests, waterfalls, hills and snow-capped mountains.
The night will be spent at Bamboo.
Day 8 – Proceed towards the Jhinu Hot Spring
Again the next morning, you will start trekking down from Bamboo to Jhinu. Jhinu is famous for a hot spring where the trekkers take some time to relax and chill.
The night will be spent at Jhinu.
Day 9 – Trek from Jhinu to Nayapul and then to Pokhra
After having a relaxed day, move down the next day to Nayapul. The trekkers will have to cross the suspension bridge, reach Himalpani and move towards Landruk, Tolka and then finally to Nayapul.
The night will be spent at Nayapul.
Day 10 – Finally drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu
The journey ends on the 9th day and you start to move towards Kathmandu from Pokhara. a farewell or the final dinner will be done at Kathmandu.
Day 11 – The Departure Day
The super exciting trek comes to an end and the trekkers will be dropped at their place of returning be it the airport or railway station from Kathmandu.
The difficulty level of this trek is moderate to difficult. The difficulty level because of the tough trails and extreme temperature makes it not suitable for the beginners. The professional or the experienced trekkers can try this trek.
Also, the minimum age for going on this trek is 12 years.
The weather of the Annapurna base camp trek is mostly on the cooler side. The temperature is between 15-20 °C during the daytime and in between 0°C-5°C during the night time.
The nights become extremely cold and the days are cold but still manageable.
The trekkers would be spending the nights in the tents and enjoy the camping time which is the main aspect of any hiking.
Simple and healthy tasty meal would be provided to the trekkers. The package includes all breakfast, lunch, and dinner. During the trekking expedition, packed food will be given which will be of good quality.
There would be no compromise on the quality of the food.
The last ATM point and the last area to receive the phone connectivity before starting the Annapurna base camp trek is at Birethanti or Pokhra. If the trekkers have to withdraw the money for the emergency use then this is the last accessible spot.

This trek will require good physical fitness and prior trekking experience. If you are a person who is not physically fit and mostly leads a sedentary life, then it is advisable to indulge in some form of physical activity like exercises or sports to make yourself fit for the trek. Legs and calf muscles need to be worked upon especially. People who are not very comfortable with treks at such high altitudes can do some form of yoga as it helps in building mental and physical confidence.
You should be fit enough physically to do this trek. Carrying basic first aid kit with yourself during the trip is also compulsory. Consult your doctor before coming to this trek and ensure that you are medically fit to go for this trek as the trek does have some difficult terrains and climatic conditions. It is also a must to buy raincoats and umbrellas prior to the trip as the trek happens in the monsoons season. Also make sure you have sufficient warm garments for the trip.
A rucksack is which is sturdy and can accommodate a sufficient amount of things is required. It should also be waterproof as the trek happens during the monsoon season and this would protect your belongings.
Porters and mules will be present to carry the camping equipment and this is included in the package. However if you want porters to carry your personal luggage, then you can easily hire them at your personal cost.
A good pair of trekking shoes is essential for this trek. There might be portions where you might have to walk through small streams or rocky portions, so a sturdy pair of shoes is a must.
A guide is necessary for this trek as a guide is well versed with the route. It will more convenient to hire a guide as you do not have to worry about directions or anything like that. A guide also might know some shortcuts to the destination and can help you save time.
