To begin Triund Trek, you need to reach Mcleodganj, Dharamshala. Mcleodganj can be reached by the following modes of transport:

  • Mcleodganj by air: Gaggal Airport serves as the nearest airport to Mcleodganj. However, very limited flights of few airlines serve Mcleodganj. Therefore, Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, serves as the nearest and major airport to Mcleodganj. You can board a flight till Delhi and then travel to Mcleodganj by bus or car.
  • Mcleodganj By rail: Pathankot railway station is the nearest railway station to Mcleodganj. It is located at a distance of 90kms from Mcleodganj.
  • Mcleodganj by road: Mcleodganj is very well connected by roads to various cities of North India like Delhi, Chandigarh, Dharamshala etc.

Itinerary :-

Day 01: Mcleodganj to Triund (2800 m) - 9 km gradual trek

  • The distance between Mcleodganj and Triund is 9Kms. A gradual trek of 5 hours will lead to Triund top.
  • Triund Trek is at an elevation of 2880m above the sea level. Triund Trek is an ideal place for campsite that straddles between Dhauladhar Valley and kanga Valley.
  • Triund Trek provides acclimatization for trekkers doing Himalaya trekking tour to the Indrahar point in the Mt. Dhauladhar. The trail is a refreshing walk through dense forest of Oak, deodar and rhododendrons.
  • This stretch through the woods is known as 22 Curves, because of the 22 switchbacks one has to walk through to reach Triund.
  • The trail passes through the village of Galu devi, Dharamkot Bhagsu and Naddi where one can experience the Tibetan culture. The trek offers breathtaking view of Bhagsu waterfall.
  • The last 2kms is a steep climb to Triund top. Triund trek offers a panoramic view of the Shivalik hills and Kanga valley which a leisure to one’s eye. We pitch our tents here, enjoy our hot dinner and bonfire at night.

Day 02: Back to Mcleodganj

Weather:-

  • Winter temperatures in Triund can dip to -4⁰C at night. The trail can be quite windy, especially in the higher areas which are open. Highly recommended wearing appropriate layers (at-least 3 to 5 layers) of winter trek cloth to overcome the chill.

  • One day tented accommodation at campsite.

  • If you cancel 48 hours before the date of event:
    • No refund would be provided.
    • Last minute cancellations due to work, health issues etc. would not be entertained and no refund or transfer shall be allowed for the same.
  • Additional charges would be deducted (based on from where you booked) if you cancel the trek at any given date (along with the scenario described above), as payment gateway/event listing charges.
  • For all the above choices, you can transfer your tickets to your friends. We would be more than happy to have them on board and you could save your hard earned money.
  • If cancellations are made 30 days before the start date of the trip, 50% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • If cancellations are made within 0-30 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled and in such cases the our service partner will try his best to provide an alternate feasible activity.

It is also a must to buy raincoats and umbrellas prior to the trip as the trek happens in the monsoons season. Also make sure you have sufficient warm garments for the trip.
A rucksack is which is sturdy and can accommodate a sufficient amount of things is required. It should also be waterproof as the trek happens during the monsoon season and this would protect your belongings.
Porters and mules will be present to carry the camping equipment. However if you want porters to carry your personal luggage, then you can easily hire them at your personal cost.
