The Everest base camp trek is one of the most popular trekking routes in the Himalayas visited by thousands of trekkers every year.
The Everest Base camp trek starts from the base point of Lukla. There is no direct transportation for Lukla so heavy and large goods are transported by planes. Located at an elevation height of 5361 metres this Everest base camp trek, is not for beginners in trekking. Trekkers are usually given 2-3 days for acclimatisation before the starting of the trek.
The Everest base camp gives you the lifetime opportunity to visit the natural and cultural heritage of Nepal. The trekking distance for climbing Everest is 48 Km. The trails of Everest base camp embrace the picturesque view of the beautiful quaint villages, grassy paths and steep rocks. While trekking you can see first seasonal Khumbu icefall.
During the trails, you can meet various famous villagers like sherpas who are known to be mountain climbers. Mount Everest trekking experience is unique in its own way. Location and How to Reach :-
- The Everest Base Camp trek or basically the Mount Everest trek is in the region of Nepal. There are two ways or directions to commence this trek. One is from Nepal and the other is from Tibet.
- This trek from the Nepal region starts from Kathmandu. Right from Kathmandu, one has to reach Lukla and from there the trek finally starts. From Lukla, one has to reach Phakding and in this direction, the trek starts.
- This trekking is of 14 days and the entire trekking experience is solely tireless in case if you are a true trekker. The snow on the trek makes this entire trekking an amazing experience.
Day 1:- Arrive at Kathmandu
- Once you touch down at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from the company will meet and greet you with a warm welcome.
- After you take in the fantastic mountain air and views, you will be transported to your hotel by a private vehicle. When you arrive at the hotel you can spend some time to relax and get used to your new environment.
- In the afternoon, a meeting will be held at the main office where you will meet your tour guide. During this meeting, you will be briefed on the upcoming trip, the trekking gear and clothing items you will be needing will also be discussed.
- Post the meeting, you will be treated to a wonderful Nepali dinner and a cultural show to go along with it.
Day 2:- Lukla to village of Phakding
- You will be taken to the airport early in the morning to board your plane that departs to Lukla, a flight time of a mere 30 minutes. The flight is a breath taking one as you will be viewing the most scenic landscape below you, enjoy it!
- Once you land at the Tenzing Hillary Airport, you will be greeting by your private porters and staff members. You will then indulge in a delicious breakfast all while gazing upon the snow-capped Himalayan Mountain Range behind you.
- You will then explore the streets full of shops and the occasional wandering yak or two, you will then reach the village of Phakding where you can settle into your lodge for a well deserved dinner.
Day 3:- Village of Phakding to Namche Bazar
- After breakfast, its time to head through the pine forests to the village of Toktok, after that you will head North and be treated to some amazing waterfalls and scenic potato fields.
- Once you reach Sagarmatha National Park, your guide will do the necessary formalities.
- You will be hiking through forest and crossing bridges over some gorgeous rivers, reaching Namche where you can check in the lodge and enjoy dinner in peace.
Day 4:- Acclimatising in Namche Bazar
- Today you will be acclimatising in Namche for a day, this is a must. During this time you can go for short hikes around the trails, feel free to explore.
- There are a few hikes like Namche to Thame (6 hours) this would be a good idea to help you get used to the mountain air feel. Make sure you have the hearty breakfast provided to give you energy for the day.
Day 5:- From Namche Bazaar to Tengboche
- Namche Bazaar stays then commences to Tengboche.
- At this place, you will start experiencing the snow-capped mountains and also the extreme Mount Everest temperature.
- The track is amazing with the forest trails and also you can reach the Tengboche monastery which is again a two hours steep climb.
Day 6:- Tengboche to Dingboche
- If you wish to, you can have a morning prayer with the monks at Tengboche Monastery, its an experience you can’t miss!
- Today you will be heading from Tengboche to Dingboche, the trail there is another experience! Through stone steps, crossing forests and walking along rustic bridges.
- After reaching your lodge at Dingboche, you can use the evening to explore the places around you, then have a wonderful dinner and get some rest.
Day 7:- Stay in Digboche
- You will have to spend another day in Dingboche to acclimatise to the mountain air, to aid this, you can choose to trek along the trails provided.
- You can either hike to Nangkar Tshang Gompa and enjoy the viewpoint or you can go for a full day hike to Chhukung. After either trek you will return to Dingboche and get some well earned rest.
Day 8:- Dingboche to Lobuche
- Today will be the journey from Dingboche to Lobuche, you get to see the twin peaks of Taboche and Cholatse on this journey.
- You will experience glacial streams and pass beautiful memorials, namely the memorials to Babu Chhiri Sherpa and Scott Fisher.
- Once you arrive at Lobuche you can check into the lodge and relax or explore the trails around you, returning back for dinner and to sleep.
Day 9:- Lobuche to Gorakshep
- Today is the day you will reach the base camp of Mt. Everest, rejoice in this and carry forward!
- After hiking, you will head to Khumbu Glacier following the mountain spine, the views around you will be well worth it. You will finally reach colorful tents and prayer flags, showing the base camp of Mt. Everest, you did it!
- Spend this time exploring around and taking pictures of the environment, after you will head to Gorak Shep for dinner and lodging.
Day 10:- Gorakshep to Kalapatthar
- You can view the sunrise over Mt. Everest and the Himalayan Mountain Range if you hike to the summit of Kala Pattar, this will be a 2 hour hike.
- After gazing upon the majestic views, and taking a few pictures for memories, you will then go back to Lobuche and continue on to Pheriche, where you can relax and have a delicious dinner. You earned it!
Day 11:- Pheriche back to Namche
- After a filling breakfast, you will take a relaxing hike from Pheriche back to Namche.
- This hike will have you passing again through gorgeous fresh rivers and beautiful green forests.
- Once you check into the lodge you can relax or explore, then sleep after dinner.
Day 12:- Namache to Lukla
- Today you will be traveling from Namache to Lukla, at the beginning you will go through a steep trail crossing Larha Bridge then hitting a more level path.
- The national park will do the check out formalities, you can then continue to Lukla where you will check in the lodge and enjoy a lovely dinner.
Day 13:- Lukla to Kathmandu
- This will be your last breakfast so enjoy it while making the most of the breath taking views around you in the Khumbu region.
- You will then fly to Kathmandu and be taken to you hotel, you can spend the remainder of the day by exploring the markets of Kathmandu. In the evening there will be a dinner where the trip will be discussed and feedback will be welcomed.
Day 14:- End of everest base camp trek
- That is the end of your 14 day everest base camp trek! We hope the journey was a magical one for you.
- You will be taken to Tribhuvan International Airport in a private vehicle where you can take your flight back to your destination.
Difficulty Level:
- Everest base camp is a difficult trek. It is surely not for beginners. But for experience Adventure junkies this trek is full of adventure and fun.
Weather:
- The Mount Everest temperature during the daytime ranges between 15°C-20°C and of course during the night time it is extremely freezing as the Everest base camp temperature falls between -5°C-10°C
Meal:
- Meal during the Everest base camp trek is available after starting the trek from Kathmandu and returning back to the starting point.
Inclusion:
- Transportation during the Everest Base Camp trek.

ATM Points and Connectivity:
- The last ATM point and the last area to receive the phone connectivity before starting the Everest Base Camp Trek are at Namche Bazaar and Dole. The last ATM connectivity is in Namche Bazaar. If the trekkers have to withdraw the money for the emergency use then this is the last accessible spot.
- The phone connectivity is the best till you reach Dole and after that, the phone’s connectivity is lost. It will be extremely difficult for you to get any minor phone connectivity too from Dole to the final Everest trek destination. We recommend you to make all the important calls while you are here before going to trek the Himalayas.
Permissions and Permits:

- Water bottles and all your refreshments which include all sorts of hydration packs which you prefer.
- Snacks like the energy bars and the protein bars which would give you instant energy during the trek.
- Personal Medical Kit with all the necessary first aid items and medicines which you feel you will need. It is always advisable to take medicines for dizziness, upset stomach, headache, and cold and cough while being on Himalayan camps and treks or anywhere.
- Pack your outfits with all the relatable clothing items like wind and waterproof jackets, t-shirts, track pants, thermal inners, trekking shoes and fleece jackets. All the necessary winter outfits for the winter treks.
- All the toiletries products in a bag because you will need them the most.
- Also do not forget to take your extra accessories like the sunglasses, caps, gloves, walking stick, torch, and similar other items while climbing Everest.
- You must avoid the sports shoes, jeans and shorts while going on the Himalayan camp or while climbing Everest. It is always better to stick to the trek pants and the joggers.
