The trail passes through the lush green forests, apple orchards, strawberry garden and traditional villages like Gulaba and Rohli Kohli. The trek will lead you to the fascinating views of the pastures famous for grazing animals like horse and sheep. This is one of the best camping places in India.

Location and how to reach 

To begin with Bhrigu lake trek you have to reach Manali. Manali can be reached by the following modes of transport :

By Air:- The nearest airport to Manali is Bhuntar. It is located at a distance of 57 km from Manali. However due to the bad weather conditions flight is not the reliable mode of transport.

By Road:- Manali is very well connected by road with different cities. The nearest Delhi bus station is at distance of 570 km from Manali.


Day 01: Manali to Gulaba & trek to Rohli Kholi (9700ft.) Via Taxi (approx. 9-10 km.)

  • Pickup from Manali office. A drive of 2 hrs will lead you to Gulaba from Manali. Gulaba is known as the snow point. The snow-covered areas give a breathtaking aura of the site.
  • Gulaba is renowned for skiing. Your actual Himalaya trekking tour in a true sense starts from this spot.
  • Starting the Brigu lake trek you have to first hike to Gulaba and from there to Rohli kholi. The trail is gentle. After passing through small streams and scenic beauty of nature we will reach to beautiful campsite Rohli Kohli. At Rohli Kohli pitch the tents for an overnight stay.

Day 02: Rohli Kholi – Bhrigu Lake (4240m/14220 ft) – Rohli Kholi; 6 to 7 hrs) Approx 8-9 km

  • After breakfast gear up yourself and continue the Bhirgu Lake trek. Bhrigu Lake is an alpine lake located at an altitude of 14220 ft. Bhrigu Lake is at a distance of 8 ms. It takes around 6-7 hours to trek to shrine Bhrigu Lake.
  • History says on this lake bank Maharishi Bhrigu meditates thus giving this trek a spiritual aspect. From Bhrigu Lake you will get the stunning views of peaks of seven sisters, Hanuman tibba. The slope to Bhrigu Lake is bit steep but can be easily trekked.
  • You will be mesmerising by the contrasting view of Royal blue water of Lake, surrounded by lush green Meadows nestled in the lap of a White snow-capped peak.
  • After spending around 2 hrs you will start your trek back to campsite Rohli Kohli. Stay overnight at Rohli Kohli. You can call it a perfect weekend trip. After 2 hrs you will head down to base camp at Bakkar Thatch.
  • This camping trip could not be any better while you stay overnight, in the lap of Himalaya. Camping in India has been trending these days and you will notice how youth and elders all enjoy sitting around the fire, singing and enjoying the night.

Day 03: Trek back to Gulaba & Departure

  • We will start the last day trek with a descent to Gulaba.
  • The trek is easy as it has a moderate descend throughout and will take around 3-4 hours to reach Gulaba.
  • Ride to Manali and departure from Manali bus stand.

Difficulty Level

The Bhrigu Lake trek is one of the easiest Himalaya trekking tours. This trek is meant for the beginners. No special training is required for this trek.


The Bhrigu lake trek average temperature is 13°c. The temperature can dip to - 7°c at night.


Guest rooms for day 1 and trekkers huts/tents for the rest 2 days.

Permissions/Passes and Permit

There are required entry fees at a certain checkpoint, permit for trek and obligatory forest camping trip charges in the region for the entire length of the trek.
