Nag Tibba(Serpent's peak) is situated in Tehri Garhwal in Uttarakhand, at an altitude of 9,915 feet. It is also known as the abode of Nag Devtas, Tibba is a local word for hill or peak. Nag Tibba range is part of three major ranges of lesser Himalayas which includes Pir Panjal Range, Dhauladhar range which was a part of Great Himalayas. Villagers strongly believe in the Nag Devta and come regularly to offer prayers to him for the safety of their animals.
Nag Tibba is an easy trek but offers some spectacular views of the entire Bandarpooch (6316m) range towards Yamunotri side, Swargarohini (6252m), Kedarnath peak in the north, Doon valley, Srikanth, Gangotri group of peaks and Chanabang.
There are three trekking routes to reach Nag Tibba summit one from Pantwari (we will be taking this route) and other two from Devalsari, Shrikot. It is an 8 km trek from Pantwari.
Nag Tibba has pleasant weather throughout the year and one of the best camping spots. If you want to do an easy winter trek then December to February is the idle time. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced trekker you will love the beauty that Nag Tibba offers. If you like bird watching then you are going to enjoy your time at the base camp. There is ample opportunity for nature photographers and astrophotographers too.
Day 00: Depart from Delhi. Pick up point - Majnu Ka Tila.
Day 01: Dehradun – Pantwari – Nag Tibba base camp.
Day 02: Nag Tibba base camp – Nag Tibba Summit – Pantwari – Dehradun.
Day 03: You will reach Delhi early morning.
Day 00: Delhi to Dehradun - 254 km 6 hours drive.
Day 01: Dehradun to Pantwari – 90 km drive and 4.5 km trek to the campsite
Day 02: Trek from campsite to Nag Tibba top and back to Pantwari – Drive back to Dehradun.
Day 03:
By Air: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest airport to Pantwari which is about 116 km away. From Airport you can book a cab for Pantwari.
By Rail: The Dehradun railway station is the nearest railway station to Pantwari which is about 90 km and is well connected with Delhi, there are plenty of options to pick your train. You can book a taxi from Dehradun Railway station to Pantwari.
Note- Book your ticket till Haridwar railway station because Dehradun railway station will be closed till Feb 2020.
By Road: Dehradun is well connected to all major cities. Pantwari which is about 90 km away from Dehradun will take about 3-4 hours. You can book a cab or take public transport to reach Pantwari, it is well connected with Dehradun.
